The UK government introduced new legislation on 31st March 2025 that requires all businesses of 10+ employees to:

  • separate their waste into individual glass bins, metal bins, plastic bins, paper and card bins and food waste bins.
  • arrange for regular collection of these bins

These new laws legally require businesses to have these bins even if they do not produce much waste in certain bins.
